@bh, first welcome to CCF. Second, since you posted this in the errors & varieties section, I'm thinking that you have a question about a mint error. Perhaps you could share more information about what you think you have so that we don't need to guess?

My apologies I thought I was making a general post sorry.....I'm not really sure what I have lol..a friend of mine told me it could be worth some decent money if it was a small date or something....

Thank you.... my friend was pretty sure it was small date not sure what that means I googled it and it said something about 3.1 grams how do you tell the difference.

First picture is the 1982 D small date. Notice how the "2" curves down towards the base like the letter "S".  Second picture is the 1982 D large date. Notice how the "2" comes straight down to the base.  To find out if the coin weighs 3.1 grams or 2.5 grams, I use a scale. I hope this helps

 To CCF! 3.1 grams is normal for the Large Date cents. It's the 1982 D Small Date Copper you're looking for.

Unless it is in MS condition, it is only worth 1 cent.

Thank you....I have a few other one cent coins the same friend gave me and a $1000 cotton bond not sure if any of it is worth anything now lol..
