We know the 56th America the Beautiful Quarter wlll be minted in 2021. It will be Tuskeegee Airmen. Do we know if that quarter will be minted the entire year since it is the only quarter set to be minted in 2021. That could give it the highest ATB mintage of all. Has there been any official word as to whether the series will be changed or extended yet. Or will we go back to the bust of Washington? Does anyone know?

I've heard that the Mint is planing starting a new series with neighborhoods on the reverse next. Then all the building sky scrappers after that. And they also plan on making some out of Gold, some Silver, some Uranium. A Proof set will contain about 50 varieties of each Quarter. Should be good until the year 3424.

Dang, just carl. This has been mentioned at various times during the past few years, and I believe the plan is to use Washington crossing the Delaware as the new, standard reverse design.

With the new products in the last few years, they are heading the way you mention Justcarl. Will it be just like the New Jersey quarter all over again?

Once this series ends, the design is defined in the legal code -- either an extension or a new static design: Quote: The Secretary may make a determination before the end of the 9-year period beginning when the first quarter dollar is issued under this subsection to continue the period of issuance until a second national site in each State, the District of Columbia, and each territory referred to in this subsection has been honored with a design on a quarter dollar. ... Upon the completion of the coin program under this subsection, the design on— (A) the obverse of the quarter dollar shall revert to the same design containing an image of President Washington in effect for the quarter dollar before the institution of the 50-State quarter dollar program; and (B) notwithstanding the fourth sentence of subsection (d)(1), the reverse of the quarter dollar shall contain an image of General Washington crossing the Delaware River prior to the Battle of Trenton. What this doesn't answer, of course, is if the series will be continued, and we're awfully close to the deadline now. In the absence of an extension, the design will be as described in the Code.

Whoa! That means we're going to get the original obverse design back. I'm happy with that. Maybe they will strike them in the original higher relief form for the proof and mint sets like they did with the Kennedy half.

Quote: (7) PERIOD OF ISSUANCE.— (A) IN GENERAL.—Subject to paragraph (2), the program established under this subsection shall continue in effect until a national site in each State has been honored.
(B) SECOND ROUND AT DISCRETION OF SECRETARY.— (i) DETERMINATION.—The Secretary may make a determination before the end of the 9-year period beginning when the first quarter dollar is issued under this subsection to continue the period of issuance until a second national site in each State, the District of Columbia, and each territory referred to in this subsection has been honored with a design on a quarter dollar.
(ii) NOTICE AND REPORT.—Within 30 days after making a determination under clause (i), the Secretary shall submit a written report on such determination to the Committee on Financial Services of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs of the Senate. Since the first ATB Quarter (Arkansas) was released on 4/19/2010, if the Secretary complies with the 30 day notice requirement, then it looks to me like a decision on whether or not to have a round 2 has to be made by the 19th of March.

My interpretation is that the decision must be made by April 19, then deliver the report by May 19. Either way, we should know something within the next couple of months.

Reading over the law again. Decision must be made by 4/19 and the Congress notified by 5/19. Also, it looks like if the decision is not to have a round two, then the Congress doesn't have to be notified and the ATB program just ends. So, there may be no news about this at all.

Quoting present laws means nothing. They just make a new law that supersedes the last one. The government is on a roll with those present Quarters so I'm sure they will come up with something else next. Perhaps all the Zoos next. Then for an Obverse, Washington holding an animal from that Zoo. Or maybe all the Jails. If they use Jails, they could change Washington to one of the more famous inmates at each jail. But to keep with what they are doing now, a different River on each one. For long Rivers they could carry on from one coin to the next one.

I yearn for the days of 1 regular yearly quarter...one design. Maybe then I'll buy proof and mint sets again.

All proof coins in one lens. Oh, those were the days.

I think someone at the mint got twitchy after the sets returned to "just" two lenses following the end of the Presidential dollar program. Maybe that's why we have our special cents in the 2019 sets...gearing up for a 3rd lens next year for the 5 annual dimes they'll be producing in 2020. As for the quarters... not sure I can take another 11 years of ATB...but my gut tells me we're going to get just that.
