I received this $1 bill mixed in with some other tips from my restaurant job and I was curious if

A. it's really possible that this bill could have been cut this way.
B. it's actually a real dollar bill and not a fake.
C. it has any actual value if it was a miscut bill.

When comparing it to other bills it has the same texture and feel but I just wanted to get the opinion of some experts on this forum to help me understand if this is really a true dollar bill that was not cut properly. Thanks again in advance for any information.

...to the Community!

Pretty sure your note is a fake cutting error.

The Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington sells uncut sheets of currency through the US Mint website. Unscrupulous individuals (ie - crooks!) purchase these sheets and cut them to make what they call "faux cutting errors" and them sell them to unsuspecting and uninformed buyers on websites such as ebay.

Your note is pretty much now worthless.

I believe you can take it to a bank and exchange it for a normal $1.

I don't think a Bank will take it.
Don't you have to have both serial numbers of a note?
What the OP has is a different serial number for two notes.

On redemption of notes I'm pretty sure you have to have at least 50% of the original note for it to be considered. The most you have available is 25% each of four different notes. That duck won't fly.

I don' think you need both serial numbers, but I hadn't thought of sky's point. Almost too obvious!

Maybe I'm weird, but I'd keep it just the way it is. C'Mon Man, it's only a buck and what a great conversation piece you'd have for next to nothing. Put it in a sleeve.

Or, list it on ebay as a "false error" and I bet you'll do well.

BTW, for damaged currency, the BEP will do partial redemption based on the portion of the note present. However, there's a minimum amount for this service.
