Upon taking these out for photos I've noticed verdigris along the rim that I do not believe was there years ago. These are stored in a dry environment. What should I do to stop the spread?

AG-3. On this coin, the strike is fairly decent, but the wear is evident.

Notice the relative detail on the Indian's eye, ribbon, and central feathers. The strike is average for the date and mint, and the weakness on the date, LIBERTY, and the face are wear. On the reverse, USA and EPU are fairly strong, but the Buffalo lacks detail. Again, this is wear, rather than a strike issue.

Years ago I checked my old Jefferson nickel collection which was in a Whitman folder. It had sat in a closet for decades (your basic dry, non-polluted environment) yet every coin had developed edge corrosion spots like on your nickel. None of the coins fortunately were valuable to start with but any numismatic value they might have had was ruined.

Don't trust folders for storage of nickel collections!
