And my last one of the night, I promise.

1941 S LWC with a distinct CCW tilt to the S, but no sign of any RPM.

Is this a common variety?

Thanks for your time,

H

Mint marks can be angled. I've seen this before.

They are hand punched into the dies and can be in any location or at any angle in the designated target zone.

1990 was the last year they hand punched mint marks on each working die,so they will vary in location and angle. Within mint tolerance.

It is common enough that I think that there is no premium.

Since MM's were placed on the hubs by hand, location and rotation were variable.
And since there was a lot of variability IMO they are not labeled varieties unless the placement was considerably off.
I would just label it as "within tolerance", not a variety.
With 92+ million struck there were a LOT of working hubs created, each a bit different.

Yes, that is my understanding as well. Just don't see them very often unless they are associated with an RPM and you'd think, with all the potential variation, they'd be more common. Wanted to be sure.

Thanks everyone.
