amazing stories and amazing pieces in this thread ! as I missed the chance to post yesterday here is a pair of coppers that belongs together each may have little value on today's market where gold has so much allure and silver takes the lion share of what is left yet this pair is special and very dear to me piece#1: picked up from the auction of an old collection in Austria: piece#2: picked up from the auction of an old collection in the Netherlands: the "value"of this pair was the stimulating discussion last year among CCF members when we tried to identify these copper coins which are the only two known survivors up to now http://goccf.com/t/319826we did not get to a final answer of these mysterious tokens, but decoded at least the almost secret legend of the reverse side, translated: what is the use of light or glasses for one who does not want to see ?

Just a common bullion gold coin, a 1909 French 'Rooster' 20 francs, but one of my favorite designs. I saved from my salary as an assistant teacher in France to buy this coin from a coin shop in Lille in 1979. It was only my second gold coin and my first foreign one.

Day 7 another token and keeping with the uniface design...Peter McCausland penny token (Ch#.PE-2) Another rescue from the dirt. Although it looks rough from the environmental damage it has incurred it's still a great example (to me) of our earliest coins in Canada from the age of tokens
