to CCF. It is worth one cent. What makes you think it is worth more than face? Do you see an error or a variety?

@trumbull, unprocessed steel wheat cents in average circulated condition do bring a small premium over face value. I think more like ¢ than $ though.

I believe that some dealers in the US pay 3 cents each for them.
Rest in Peace

True you don't find them hardly ever anymore in change ,but they aren't worth much more than FV unless you have an error coin or MS-67 .

Nowadays we are lucky if the Zincolns make it through the first Five years!

Over a billion of these were made and people tended to save them because they are different, so they are not particularly valuable as others have said. They are still interesting however!

If you don't mind being deceitful, you could probably come up with some cool story about why this penny is made of steel and not copper which makes it very valuable. Tell the tale to some unsuspecting acquaintance you don't like and tell them you'll let them have the coin for only fifty bucks. Try hard enough and you may eventually hit pay dirt. :)
