Was looking around and spied this, at MS65 its $4500 PCGS book. I dont think it would make 65 but for the price, it could go as low as a 63 Thoughts?

Banged up pretty good. The scratches on both sides really hurt it. 62 at best.

$270 in MS62. That's a big difference in price. John1

I'm going to get it in hand, take chance on shipping. He has free returns. I'll put some more pictures up when I get it. Could be a bargain.

Very nice luster, but the scratches on the fields near the wings are concerning. If that's graffiti, it would kill the value.

"If that's graffiti, it would kill the value." I'm still learning, graffiti as in the traditional sense? Someone sat down and just decided to decorate it?

cboyera has the right strategy.
I think it is a 63, but if it is to be a safe buy, common sense says that it should be bought for a 62 price.
So what if you don't get it? There are tons of other nice Morgans out there. Don't let your heart rule your head. In the meantime, you have saved your money if you don't buy this one.

I would consider any intentional scratching or defacing a coin to be graffiti. There's probably some overlap between graffiti and plain scratches. The bunching of the scratches in those two areas is suspicious.

With that scratch on the cheek, there's no way it would make 65.

So they were asking $4500 and sold it to you for less than $300? Wow. John1

No, I was just making an example, like a for instance, at $4500 MS 65 that's what it would be worth, but at a cheap price, it would be worth taking a chance.
As banged up as it is, MS 65 is a pipe dream lol
When buying raw stuff, I use MS 65 as a base line, down the middle so to speak.

Looks like a DETAILS coin to me. The obverse is bad enough but the scratching at both side of the eagle on the reverse is a killer.
