Hi all, Hopefully this is something you all can help me with. I used to collect coins a bit when I was younger, but kind of got out of it. Well, just recently my aunt decided that this was enough background to make me an appraiser, and she gave me a bunch of coins that she wanted to know estimated value of. She wants to see if they are worth putting on her insurance and for how much. From looking around this site, I's thinking that there are some people here that can help. I am just looking for a ballpark value on these as a set or individually if you are super awesome(since there are no plans to sell them), and if there are any coins of noted greater value or rarity. I have about 10 more books of different denominations to share if this works out. Let me know if you want me to get a shot of the back sides, or need any other info. Thank you in advanced!

Quote: $17 each. No way! Even the 1890-CC?

Quote: Even the 1890-CC? Huh? I see nothing with a CC mintmark. I see nothing with any mintmark. Just a bunch of average circulated obverses. $17 each is retail. If these are the best OP can post, that's what OP will get in "ballpark".

Agree with these photos that's the highest estimated value one can give.
If the coins are removed and accompanying pictures of each, front and back are given, then perhaps the estimated value might increase, possibly by quite a lot.

Get up on the wrong side of bed this AM? hnieman posted here in good faith saying he knew little about coins and asking for help. I would hate to see him going away from CCF, sell off for silver melt, and have someone take him for a ride. Maybe it would be better if we ask... @hnieman Do you know if the letters below the coins in the book (which indicate mint marks) are correct? Could you at least take the 1890 that has CC under it out and post pics so we can see if it is a CC or not? I am not a Morgan or Peace dollar specialist, but CC coins are definitely worth a lot more than just the 17.00 melt value. Wait around for more knowledgeable people on here to ask you better questions to help you get the info you seek. You will find most if us on this forum enjoy helping people just like you who come with legit. questions like yours.

Your 1890-CC is worth around $100 or so. Hard to grade from those pictures.

Also, Yes, I know about mint marks, and you can assume that the mint marks that are written in the book are legitimate. These coins were my grandfathers originally, and I'm not just some random kid. I'm 47.

Seriously, I'm just trying to help my old aunt out. She gave me this box of coins and wanted an estimate of their worth to see if she should add them to her insurance, and was also curious about how much they were worth. These coin folders are mostly full and I don't have the time to do a detailed inspection of each coin, hence the "ballpark estimate" that I was looking for help on.

Much better picture on your 90-CC! If you can't post detailed pictures of each coin, out help to you would be limited. Your best bet might be to find a trusted dealer or a local coin club. A RedBook would also give you a ballpark estimate.

For each of those albums, I would recommend at least taking fifteen minutes to scan a price guide to identify the key and semi-key dates to see if you have any of them. The price guides are all inflated, however, you can identify the relative prices and note the less common ones. If you have some of the pricier ones, post pictures here. Link to PCGS Price Guides.

Eyeballing what she has in the box, you could probably justify $1000 insurance without dredging through the price guides. The dollars by themselves are probably $400. There might be some valuable rarities, but judging from the dollars I doubt it. Check the walkers for any 1916-1921 dates, especially anything that isn't heavily worn.
Except for a few key dates, none of these coins get a lot of interest from dealers if they're heavily worn or damaged.
