1876 Shield Nickel Repunched Date? - Coin Community Forum

MorgansRmine Pillar of the Community United States 1219 Posts	Posted 08/24/2008 07:52 am Don't believe it's a repunched date. All the digits appear to have the same degree of doubling to left. Also see some doubling on the lower right side of shield. Could be a doubled die or just Machine Doubling. Need some more opinions. Report this Post to the Staff
coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 08/24/2008 10:41 am From what I can see the doubling is flat/shelf like and flowing in one direction which would best describe a machine doubled coin. You can see the shift to the right on this coin. The reverse may/may not have the same. It just depends on the movement of the die/dies. Report this Post to the Staff
