We are going to need larger and sharper images.
If it's real you've got some serious value there.

Much better photos needed. Also of edge. Weight? But looks like an obvious fake from these photos. So many grandpas, so many fakes! A common theme.

The easy answer, a solid fine. Now the diagnostics.

You are one fortunate individual if it turns out to be genuine. Keep us informed.

Fairly obvious fake. Look at the distance between the stars and the rim on your piece, there is very little space. Now look at the PCGS site, the distance is much larger. The base of the 2 on the reverse is completely different etc.

No way this is real. It would be quite a find if it was. The date is altered at best and an outright fake at worst. There are no knob '2's with the 1823 date. And the '3' doesn't look like a 3 over 2 overdate either. The stars on the obverse look too flat for the apparent grade. Sorry. Hopefully it's silver at least.

Almost worth have it sent to a TPGS just to make sure. It is supposed to be a 3/2 and not just a 3. I don't see any trace of a 2.

Don't bother with PCGS the coin is a fake or altered. The date is completely wrong, especially the 2.this is what the real one looks like compare the dates.

Grandpa's coin is fake. Grandpa probably knew it was fake, too.
