Raised design, sometimes above the rim of the coin.

So the reason you asked, is that you're planning to order the new Ultra High Relief St. Gaudens in '09 ?...... Quote: Next January, the United States Mint will issue the 2009 Ultra High Relief Double Eagle Gold Coin. This coin promises to fulfill Augustus Saint-Gaudens' vision of an ultra high relief coin that could not be realized in 1907 with his legendary Double Eagle liberty design.

Well.......it'll certainly COST more than the spot price of gold when we buy it !... The U.S. Mint will certainly CHARGE more for a "proof" gold coin and an "uncirculated" gold coin OVER the "spot value"....... But this coin "going up" numismatically regardless of what the "spot price" does in the future.......dunno about that..... I think sadly, it will always be "bullion market driven" as to what the current value will be at any time in the future. Different from "classic" coins which can and do retain nice values numismatically. These will be worth whatever gold is worth......plus a little more for being "proof" or "uncirculated" .... and "fashioned into a coin" from raw gold gets a couple more dollars !... But they're gonna be quite the purrrrrty little pieces of Leprechaun gold for sure !!

Eagle Foot so it will only be worth a few $100 over spot value when the prices settel in sometime in 2010 by the way what do you think the 2006 20th anniversary reverse ASE pcgs 69 will always be worth ?

No coin will "always be worth" a certain "set" price !....and there may be drastic fluctuations with some......No matter how special it is......the ebb and flow of the supply and demand with collectors.....precious metal markets......that IS a very nice and special coin though !.......

Those are the kind of coins when I see advertised I turn the other way. Guess I'm just to cheap. If and when you get one post a photo.

I'm still debating if I want one of those St. Gaudens reproduction or save up and get a real 1907 high relief.
