Hi all,
I am very new to coin collecting, but I just came across this very interesting 2019 D Penny. It looks like the UNITED is nearer to the rim than other pennies, but what is actually interesting is that it is almost smeared to the outer edge of the rim. What is this called if it is anything? And what are your next steps when finding an interesting coin?

Any advice or opinions regarding this coin or coin collecting in general are appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

@kr45, first welcome to CCF. Second, this looks like Die Deterioration Doubling to me.

That form of Die Deterioration is called Ridge Ring. We often see this on the obverse dies, but this is an example of it on the reverse dies. (Probably the reverse die is a hammer die) No premium. Top of the devices are in the normal location. The Die Deterioration is rising on the fields. Sometimes the ring is so large it is the same height of the devices:
