@jc23, the letters that seem to stretch toward the rim look to be the result of die detioration doubling.

As for the "tiny little" Y near LIBERTY, I don't exactly see to what you are referring, but I would chalk it up to Pareidolia.

I 100% see the lowecase y between the T and Y in Liberty in your picture, you aren't seeing things, or making a connection to a lowercase y out of a smudge.

However it is a smudge lowercase y and not a minting error. This happened after the mint at some point. Likely it's some ink transfer. I have a nickel like this with a little s on it and same type of thing. I can't say exactly how it happens but with my tiny 's nickel there was a really small piece of paper with an 's on it I peeled off and an after image of the letter remained so likely it happened in this type of way.

I'd agree on it being DDD on the reverse.

The small looking letters on Liberty are from die polishing. When they polish the die, it removes part of the surface of the fields. Do this several times and the fields and the wide part of the dies are showing abrasion.

When the fields are reduced then the deeper devices are altered on the dies. Then the coins show that die event. But guess what? All coins struck with that die will reduced size until the die is retired.

That "thing" between the T and Y in liberty looks more like a V. What it is is a stain with a stain or bit of dirt on it.

I seen an L at the left lower bottom by rim and than noticed the Y in between T-Y, looks pressed in.
