Now Afghanistan - that is something very ambitious, Snowman!

OK went through the first album - France. Lots of coins, but only about 20 types .
Since there are that many doubles, 200 2x2s might not be necessary. If that's the case in all of them, it's doubtful the number of types will reach 80 altogether.

The doubles only:

Hungary, about 15 types out of rather few coins. One is from 1838

No PVC damage so far (these were the newest albums).

East Germany - 2
Britain - 3
Guernesey - 2
Jersey - 1
Australia - 1
Russia - all junk, save a few examples

Now this is really going nowhere.
Anyway trading offers for missing types accepted from now on.

My son is working towards getting 1 coin from each country in the 34th Edition of the 2007 Standard Catalog of World Coins 1901 - 2000 by Krause. Needless to say he has many duplicates that he'll be looking to trade for ones he doesn't have.

Nice, but unless he just started.. I doubt if he'll find any interesting country here. The coins may not be bad (at least for me) but the countries are very common (GB, Austria, Germany, France etc.)...

One time at an estate auction, I bought a large batch of "world coins" for $2.00. I had others before that, but this batch had MANY countries represented !......This thread is making me think about pulling them out again.
countries I remember....
Soviet Union
Israel
Portugal
Austria
Italy
Mexico
Philippines
South Africa
Germany
Canada
(and a few others too that I've forgotten........I THOUGHT IT WAS WORTH $2.00 AT THE TIME !)(the crowd there had ZERO interest in these World coins)(I thought they were cool !)

Large batch? Interesting. These countries are not rare even here, but I'm sure if that's more than a handful of coins it'd be worth more than $2 here. In my terms, good deal . Of course assuming ONLY those countries were there, if there were others then even better.

We (meaning me) want pics

If ya cupped both hands together, you could hold the "batch" probably. They're in a safety deposit box at the bank......but I will keep in mind your interest in "pics" of them !...

I'd say it might be a good lot for only $2. I never get such a bargain here!

DL.....

The interesting part of this estate auction, is that they had a decent amount of coins/paper currency there to sell. This was only 1% of the auction though......from books, furniture, tools, antiques, vehicles, gardening equipment, etc. etc. etc.
A large crowd gathered for the coins when it was time, but once the gold coins, Silver Dollars (all kinds), nickels, uncut paper currency sheets, albums, folders, wheat cents, etc. etc. was gone.....the crowd then dispersed and THE ONLY ONES LEFT WERE ME, ONE OTHER GUY (a local farmer), AND THE AUCTIONEER HIMSELF ! He started the bidding at $1.00 for this "pile". The farmer took the first bid for a $1.00, then bidding went up to $2.00. I raised my bid card for that, the autioneer looked back at the farmer for $3.00. He shook his head NO. So I won the bid !.....
The crowd went from around 40 people to only "2" when it came time for the "World Coins"........nobody was interested in them AT ALL !
