My coin is the lighter-colored LMC with the darker one being the variety Vista DDO 0 0 2. Any feedback is appreciated.

And looking at the picture I think I might have messed up the side by side of the two dates. I made two side by that were to go in this collage of images and may have stuck the wrong one in. I think that may be the one for the 00 one.

Thanks for your reply E&V. I wish I was able to get to it before the circulation damage, but it still felt good to find it and the rest of it and similar condition... Not great but not horrible either!

Coop recently posted about that year having a master die doubling. You may want to use the search box and find more info. John1

Its not from the same dies. The mintmarks are in different locations. There was an issue with a doubled master die and doubled working hubs that year. http://doubleddie.com/814639.html Note John's comments on these on the top listing of this link. It concerns all the mints for that year on these dies.

Yep,your side by sides prove it's not a DDO...check out mint mark...Coops right...whenever you think you have a match, always study the mint marks locations...Best of luck with future finds

Wow just check this thread again after being away for several days, I really appreciate the effort and the feedback! Well that would be disappointing, but I guess this is about not just the search for Value but truth as well. I had a quick question though is the Denver series affected by this as well? The link provided above leads to the Philadelphia coin.

I also wanted to ask if the listings on variety Vista for the Denver Mint would still be valid given the recent findings?

There is debate over whether the 1968 Class II DDOs are doubled working hubs or true DDOs. VarietyVista (Wiles/CONECA) and CopperCoins (Daughtrey) believe they are DDOs, Doubleddie.com (Wexler) believes they are doubled working hubs. VarietyVista does list one as a doubled working hub, 1968-S DDO-004. http://varietyvista.com/01b%20LC%20...8SDDO004.htmI tend to lean towards DDO. I have looking at thousands of coins the past couple of years and probably hundreds of 1968 cents, and I've only seen one of these 1968 DDOs. But honestly, I haven't put much research into it.

After you seen so many different dies that show the same hub doubling, you realize if is not a doubled die, but a doubled working hub. A doubled working hub will make every die look like a doubled die exactly alike. A true doubled die is from a normal hub that is not exactly setup correctly/sometimes a different hub is used (Class 2 doubled dies. A worn hub and a fresh hub will affect the outside or inside of outer devices on a doubled die) /or a warped hub was used one time (Class 6 doubled dies are an example of that)
