I'm sure it has no value but I thought it was an interesting find as I was walking. Anyone know anything about it?

@m2t16, first welcome to CCF. Second, your cent was almost certainly plated (perhaps as part of a science experiment). If it was nickel-plated it may be slightly attracted to a strong magnet.

It will slightly attract to a larger magnet, although it doesn't feel as heavy as a regular penny it's definitely not silver either. Thank you for the welcoming.

I agree! By the way, I asked the mods to move your thread over to the US Modern Coin Variety and Error section so that more folks will weigh in with their thoughts.

Thank you, I have a collection that I am actually a little curious to the value but I've never been on one of these sites.

No, it was plated (with nickel) after it left the Mint. It's a curiosity that technically falls under "damaged."

Just start a new thread. You can post it here under "us modern variety and error coins" if you anticipate an error. If not, then under the main section "us modern coins" is fine too.
