Back in 2014 during a coin roll hunt on two full boxes of 2014p..i found this odd looking Lincoln Shield cent..through the process of trying to figure out what was wrong with it I found out about the rockwell authenticated by "lonesome divine" back then there wasnt much on it..just arguements on how it could of been authenticated without witnessing it first hand.. resently I read an article from I beleave pete apple my question is how would I get mine authenticated its to perfect to be a random dent.. any ideas..thoughts..or info about this would be great

Jim, and based on these pictures, why dont you think so?

Do you know, or have you studied the "Rockwell 15T test"?

Ive done alot of research and can post the documentation on this as well.

If you dont think its a rockwell, then what is it? (The dot on the sheild)...there isn't any raised edge on it, theres no dent onto the other side, it was out of a brand new unopened bankroll.

My biggest inquiry is more of, that I want to know how and where do I get coins authenicated.

Based on your pic behind the plastic it is pretty hard to tell, I have seen numerous coins with what I thought could be Rockwell tested but were not. Take your cent out of its holder and take a few clear closeup pics of the area and we can take a closer look.

Please post close up pics of the coin out of the 2x2. You can also use the search box, upper left of page for info on the Rockwell test. We get this question a few times every year.

@MD86, I am extremely skeptical of all of these hardness test indents because I don't see any way of knowing whether they were done before or after they left the mint. Could yours be an indent from a Rockwell tester? Perhaps, but I don't have confidence that this is true.

I truely understand this topic is debatable..i would never have known about rockwell test marks before finding this coin..back then in 2014 there was little info when my wife tryed looking this penny mark up..im seeing more and more about it now but like stated dont understand how to authenticate it..it also was found in an unopened bankroll out of two boxes of unopened 2014p in 2014..can these rolls be tampered with? Ida never looked into this if it wasnt so perfect of a dent in such a perfect placement..ill post more pics out of holder both side best I can..and thank you for the responces

Not sure how this might help, but there does appear to be a pressure ridge around the perimeter of the indent on your coin.

This does seem compatible with what would happen as the tip enters the surface of a coin. The metal is slightly displaced and the only place to go is up.

Probably a minor Struck Through error. Not Rockwell Hardness test mark.
