Hi everyone! I'm hoping some of you have seen this coin before and can give me an answer. Please let me know if the photos are not clear enough. I Found this penny coin roll hunting and it stuck out like a sore thumb for obvious reasons. It weighs 3.09 grams and is mostly silver in color. If this is an error coin, what kind is it? Is it worth sending it in for grading? Thank you for your help and support! Happy hunting!

. Environmental toning may be what is causing the discoloring. Definitely not worth sending in.

Possibly plated at one point with the plating now wearing off.

3.09 grams is well within mint tolerance...color as already advised is probably due to environmental damage, but the "silveriness" is not too clear from your pics. Maybe put it next to a dime or quarter for a comparison.

To CCF! Environmental Damage. PSD. Probably was plated at one point, and now it's wearing off.

Nice fingerprint on obverse,as far a color most likely a science project on electro-plating either silver or chromium. to CCF..good luck..happy hunting...have fun

Having it graded would be like having a new expensive car cover to put on a wrecked car.

Could this have been "Plated" with Mercury that's slowly wearing away?
