1942 Nickel Question - Coin Community Forum

SilverCents Pillar of the Community United States 3281 Posts	Posted 07/09/2019 8:18 pm Just doing a bit of CRHing and I found this. It certainly doesn't look like a War Nickel, but I'm not for sure. I was reading that before the silver nickel alloy was in effect, the Denver mint finished the 1942 nickel batch. Yet, there is no D mint mark, which might be normal. I could be asking a stupid question but oh well. I know it isn't from Philadelphia, as there is no problem, and I know it isn't from San Francisco, as it's not a proof. I'm assuming it's from Denver, and is one of the nickels that has no silver content, tell me, what do you guys think? Report this Post to the Staff

On the non silvers, the philadelphia has no mintmark. You have a normal clad-Zinc nickel. Just got finished, didn't find much, luckily I did find a 1970 - S, which is one of the only LMC I was missing, just one more go! Don't worry, it wasn't the 1970 - S small date sadly.
