What has happened is the die wear and heavy circulation has taken a tall on the devices and flattened them, therefor they have gotten slightly wider and bigger.It's safe to let it go back in circulation.

The condition is not close to "overlapping"...which would be quite difficult unless Machine Doubling or a DD.
