I found this cent with a raised die crack? New at this so really don't know the correct terminology. Is this considered an error. Edit: I just noticed the doubling on liberty. I would think that would be a DDO on liberty? on date and mint mark

The head shows a scratch from PSD. In the I and B of "LIBERTY", there's a Die Chip. I am also seeing Die Deterioration Doubling and Machine Doubling on the devices, so it's not a Doubled Die Obverse.

johnny - is the entire length of this mark raised on both sides, or is is depressed on one side where a gouge has pushed up metal all along the edge?

to the CCF!

Yes it is raised on both sides and a raised blob in the middle. I think if it was a gouge the blob in the middle would be gouged also. A toothpick stops on both sides of the raised line. I have looked at it at different angles it is not a cut into the surface of the coin.

Sorry, but that is not raised. There is no way that this area would be raised. This is a contact mark with a trench. The cheek and the edge of the ear is raised and the inner ear is lower. If you had a lower angle of light you would see the light and shadows better. PSD not a die crack.
