On hand, the obverse leans toward a slight green tint, but overall the coin is mostly on the darker side. |

Obverse is slightly out of alignment and has a pretty decent die crack. Neither of which help or hurt the value.
Looks more in the high VF range to me.

Besides the color being way off you have long scratch on obverse that if deeper would have called it a die break . Bad rim problems . Nice little dig on reverse near lower right shield . Could be a details coin .  |

Four full diamonds suggests solid AU sharpness, but the dark grey appearance is unnatural.

Based in LIBERTY and the head dress I'm in the high VF camp...
I also see some odd issues with the surfaces on both reverse and obverse that put it at a details grade.

I also used a toothpick to remove the rest of the embedded soil within the crevices. I took another look at the coin and it looks like the greenish tint is starting to show again. Here are new photos.   |

Joe ,it looked like a scratch at first to me and mentioned could have called it a die crack if it looked deeper or clearer . Didn't know it was a dug coin at the time of my comment . Dirt over all those years in the ground most likely smooth that crack down a bit .  |

Sticking with AU details (environmental damage). This is not a natural color for an Indian cent. |
