Saw UncleVicky's post of a 1858 and remembered I had one also, it's very similar in toning but it has more wear.
I bought this while on a excursion into USA looking for coins about ten years ago.
I asked at a coin shop to see his Canadian coins and he handed me his foreign coin box and said they're $1.00 each.
Turned out there was very little Canadian at all but needless to say I picked this one and couple others less significant coins.

Comments and opinions on the grade would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Bill

VF-30, blotchy appearance detracts somewhat.

Thanks for all the opinions and comments, much appreciated.
I knew at the time it was a great deal and felt somewhat guilty of only paying $1.00 but I soon got over it.

Cheers, Bill

I'm at VF-30, as well. What an incredible find for $1. You sure find much better dealer junkboxes than I do.

C'mon now. After this find, we're all waiting for "Hounddog Bill's Guide to Dealer Junkbox Treasure Hunting."

Great coin!

Thanks again for the added comments.
No guide coming just a suggestion, travel small towns America be personable and polite and you'll find most (not all) small dealers are more then happy to get rid of their Canadian coins.

Cheers, Bill

Looks like the "mint" did a fairly poor casting job on that one. Attracted to a magnet by chance?
