1957D LWC looks like there is doubling, specially on the date. If not why is the date so thick?

It looks like that because its been heavily circulated then polished. No errors

Not melted, just polished.

Other than a couple of die chips, pics are not sufficiently clear to evaluate.

Check the mint mark location. could be VVs DDO-013. However, IMO since the coin has been polished the only additional value it would hold ...is with you since you found it...

Normal coin that's been polished to death. Ouch!

This was another cent in the Historical One Cent Collection I have. Like the 1908 as far as I know it has never been circulated or even opened until I opened it today. I don't know how uncirculated sets work if they are polished or not?

The coin has definitely seen circulation. It's not uncirculated. Someone decided to polish it down, causing the coin to look like this. Now it's a cull coin and only worth like 3 cents at most.

It's called Capitalism...some person/company gets ahold of some junk coins, print a cardboard cut-out holder for them, and a plastic case...and markets them to grandparents to buy and give as gifts to their grandkids..cost of materials, maybe around a dollar or two (at most) and sells those sets for (I don't know, maybe) 9.95 or 14.95...great profit....Your set may have said uncirculated..but like everyone has posted..not true..

I've seen sets for most cents, nickels, dimes and quarters which contained each design...you can google or ebay search for them...so much junk around

Best of luck in future finds

Thank you again for all the information, I had no idea that is what people do. Now I am wondering about all the other sets I have had. I am trying to set up a nice collection for my children for when they get older and I am glad I found this out now. Thank you again and I appreciate everyone.
