Looks like the obverse die was replaced. That appears to be an earlier die state die. That is what they are supposed to look like.

@Spence, I think he's talking about how the obverse die is in Early Die State. He said that's what Early Die State coins are supposed to look like. I am pretty sure he's seen the reverse.

The color of the reverse looks weird to me. If it is grease it's the best shield cent I've seen!

Nwoods is that the same coin in both pics?
