Maybe you can still get the $3500 if it was a real offer, that's more than market value. Nice find.

Same here, and they've now been transferred to Oahu (US Army 25th Infantry Division).

Serial #1 notes for many current blocks of many denominations are commonly available in TPG 64/65 grades for $5K+. Without pics we can't be sure, but raw circulated #3 notes would normally be worth a great deal less.

From the new pic I can see a hard central fold and some bends in the paper. The value just went way down. You'd be lucky to get 500 to 750$ for it in my opinion.

I believe I'd be spending my time trying to find that person that offered you 3500$ for it.

I know condition is a priority among collectors but since US paper currency is 75% cotton and 25% linen the bends can be ironed out, correct? It's got to be common in the paper currency collector community.

Sure. It's your note, you can do whatever you want to it. Don't let us stop you.

Go find the guy who offered you $3500, that's the best you will probably get.

For god's sake LEAVE IT ALONE and try to focus on how best to sell it - we can help you. I agree it's worth less than a grand. If you don't want to sell it, fine.

Does sound a little fishy. So the teller offered you that price? The guy behind you in line?
