lgoad5, It is Die Deterioration. The term alludes me at the moment, rim...something error. But its a common issue. There is a slight possibility that the die was tilted, but I'm no expert on that. It does interesting things to the lettering and a good spot. don't think it has a lot of $ value though.

Ridge ring. That what you were thinking. The die breaking down. Also called "design-devouring die wear."

Die Deterioration. Pretty common on the 1980's LMC's.

Well crap I thought it may be special. But sure am glad I joined this coin community. I appreciate everyone's input and knowledge. I never thought twice about seriously looking at coins closely till a few months ago and get excited when I see something different. But thanks again and I will look for the preview feature and I'm gonna find something awesome one day that will be worth talking about

Also, consider holding your phone horizontally when taking your pics. I understand that this orients them correctly on CCF.

The first couple of thousands, you still don't know what your looking for. When you start finding the good stuff, then you will know what to look for. So look at the sites for the different years of denominations of what you are often searching. Then you will have a better idea of what to look for. That is the key. Knowing what to look for instead of spotting something different. Different coins are usually all the damaged stuff that is out there in circulation that are trying to be spent. (Trying because they are damaged)

You do realize that banks have been known to have coins? When I go out of the city, I try to get coins from smaller town at the banks. Seems like the coins here are picked over pretty good. Especially hand wrapped rolls. Take them all then.
