I have a 1993 dime that is thicker and smooth around the outside. Is it error dime or something else?

@rebel, first welcome to CCF. Second, coins like this which have a pronouced rim that is smooth may have spent time rolling in a clothes dryer.

Went for a tumble in a commercial clothes dryer:

A long drop from them compared to a home dryer.

Yes, there is the ' Dryer Coin' effect. Too, some coins with this appearance have been deliberately shaped by people. I've seen it done by tapping the coin's rim with a mallet or other tool while turning (rolling) the coin. Takes a while, but it yields similar results.

Also using the inside of a spoon on the edge of the coin. (really noisy to be around) Makes you wish you were instead in a Dentists chair.
