Found this on ebay, pretty sure it's artificial toning, just checking though....

Artificial-Toning?

Also, grade? I'd say AU-50 (with a weak strike on most of it) but no more. Has a little more wear on the leaves and in the top of the hair than mine.

I kind of like the look of this coin. It may be AT, but if so it's not particularly blatant IMO. I have an UNC 1833 Half Cent with beautiful natural blue tone, so I won't condemn this coin just because it has some blue color.

Strike doesn't seem too bad, either. My NGC MS-63BN 1806 Half Cent has stronger detail in Liberty's hair, but the drapery at the front of the bust is definitely weaker than on this coin. This one does have weak detail in the denticles.

I'd agree with an AU-50 grade, although I think it's a pretty solid AU in terms of wear. I'd love to see this coin in-hand! Does the seller offer a good return policy?

Yeah, seven days if uncertified. Someone already took the opening $300 bid. I already have one though, so with the chance of it being AT, I'm not sure if I'd pay much more. I might still go for it if I have some extra money in a few days.

I thought the denticles were the main defining factor in 'weak strike' or not, though? Maybe I'm wrong.

The picture provided is so different from the other picture he has up it's tough to tell what the coin really looks like.
From what I can make out in the other pic (shown below), the toning seems to have a 'pooled' look to it.....which would lead me to believe a liquid such as ms70 was applied and the toning is not natural. Only doubts as I can't tell for sure from the pics, but enough of them to pass on the coin.
The second pic also shows some flaws hidden in the first, like that big scratch at 12 o'clock.

I agree...gorgeous looking coin with sharp details, especially for the age of it...
the halo around the bust makes me think this is artificial, but WOW I'd include it
in my type set in a NY MINUTE!

PS no crosslet on the 4 and no stems on the wreath $1000 and up for value AU-55!!

Nice looking coin. I'd go $500 and see what happens. You never know on ebay, I have done very well on some of my bids. Good luck!

I am not an expert on the EAC, but I like the look and the colour. Even if it were AT, the overall eye appeal is extremely nice for something that old.
