This coin looks silver except for the light patches of copper. Did some one do something to it chemically, or is it an error? Thanks for looking.

If it was thin/missing plating, I think the exposed zinc would be dull..with the coin having an overall "shine", makes me lean towards environmental toning......? Lets see what others say

Once these coins hit circulation they begin toning and rotting. Until they can find a way to make them cheaper with better quality matals this is what our 1 cent coinage will look like. Hey, maybe one day the mint will wise up and suspend production of the 1 cent.
