Might have something to do with Die Deterioration I think.

Perhaps that tail is due toa die chip or gouge. Probably only a very small premium associated with such.

Well note on the devices. How the devices usually show die wear as with die flow lines, and widening of the devices towards the edge direction being wider there. But we see the opposite, a reduction of the size of the devices towards the rim. So there was an over polishing issue with the die the made the devices smaller on the outside edge of the die. There may have been die damage on the outside edge of the die that they were trying to remove on the tail of the '2'. So the reduction of all the devices on the outside edge of the die tells me the die was showing an over polishing issue, rather than a die wear issue. (which would have left the devices wider towards the rims)
