I am new and really don't know anything about Vams but is that a dye crack by the 4 stars on the left obverse? Or is it just a scratch?

It is in fact a small die crack however, it was the crack through the mint mark that lead me to the VAM number...http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.c...904-O_VAM-36

IMHO, the gouges on Liberty's nose, cheek, and neck and the contact marks in the obverse field beneath the chin and behind the head are at a 63 level, but the rim damage at 4 o'clock on the obverse and 1 o'clock on the reverse drop it to a 62. There isn't much difference in value between a 62 and 63 for an '04-O, however.

Not really. There are no less than a dozen examples in the SSDC registry with examples graded as high as MS65. It's more just a cool factor for collectors that enjoy coins struck from cracked dies...

average strike for this year. a little too scuffed up for me but may slide in at MS63. wouldn't pay 63 money for it though. Maybe $50 range so its overpriced as it sits
