I put this penny on ebay thinking that it might generate some interest, but nothing so far. Maybe someone could tell me if the errors are too common for anyone to be interested? Thanks Guys

Damaged coin. PSD. Might have been dipped in acid. I would take that coin off of ebay, since it's a damaged coin. Worth 1 cent.

It isn't PSD on the bottom left building corner and ONE but doesn't appear to be true hub doubling. I think it is actually a nice example of a form of Die Deterioration Doubling. It seems to be raised in relief. The issues around the date are probably the same thing. I'm not sure if the issue with the motto IN GOD WE may be Struck Through Grease? I find this type of doubling on the reverse interesting. Clear separation but not true doubling.

Petespockets55,I am not sure about that. I am very skeptical of this coin.

Reminds me of a torched coin. The heat moving the devices around a bit: No premium for this coin.

I like the torched coin look! Thanks for the input, and thanks Pete for the positive perspective.

You're welcome but it's only what I'm seeing. The areas are raised not incuse, correct?
I think I remember seeing something very similar on Error-ref.com yesterday while looking for information on something else but now I can't find or remember the actual name.

Yes, everything is raised, and I think that I agree with you're conclusions. "Liberty" also has a form of doubling.

"In God" looks smeared to me, not blow torched, and the doubling is undeniably doubling.

Above Liberty and below the date, there are waves of metal movement. The reverse is showing some metal movement on ONE and the Base of the left side of the edge of the building. I feel the coin is damaged. If this were a mint error, all areas would show doubling. Only isolated areas are affected. PSD

Didahl, to be clear, I don't think it is a doubled die coin or an error. (Sure wish I could find that page again to clarify my mind. Until my mind comes around with the page I will agree with and thank Coop.) BTW- Die Deterioration, if it was that, is a form of die damage that isn't usually desirable. But your coin is interesting and I don't recall coming across one like it before. Thank you for sharing it.

Didahl;
Could you please post better photos, and some closeups of the LIBERTY, and the Top of Lincolns head.

I sure will try to get better photos, but it will have to be later. Thanks for the interest!

As others have said, this coin was altered outside the Mint. Typically referred to as "rippling", the wavy surface has variously been linked to the use of a rotating brush, buffing wheel, or heat + buffing. I really can't say for sure how this alteration is accomplished, but it's fairly common and cannot be the result of the strike.
