This thread is being posted as a way for the "veterans" of the forum to re-introduce themselves to the newer members. I have noticed lately that there are stories behind each and every person on this forum. Some people have certain strengths where as others have weaknesses. This thread is to help close the gap.
Seeing as though one of the forum's greatest members will unfortunately not be able to post here, with the permission of Susanlynn and Bobby (our forum mom and dad), I would like to dedicate this thread in the memory of Catman!

I can't remember if I ever did an introduction in the first place! I'm Simon (from England), although most people know me as either Ętheling or Sylvester. Latterly Ętheling is the name I opt for, for those wondering what it means it's an old Anglo-Saxon title meaning 'throne worthy' (Ęthel = noble), I wanted something Anglo-Saxon sounding to reflect my interest in Anglo-Saxon coinage and Anglo-Saxon kings.
Primarily I collect only three main areas of late, English Anglo-Saxon (900-1000 CE), Anglo-Norman (i.e English and French coins from the 1100s) and I also dabble in Imperial Roman Denarii from the early Empire, I tend to collect these by deity rather than by Emperor.
So I tend to focus exclusively on English, French and Italian (Roman) coinage.
I do dabble in other fields from time to time but only when budget allows.

We live in beautiful Western Colorado. I was a teacher for 35 years, and also have been Sports Editor of the local newspaper for 38 years. My wife Pat was a fourth grade teacher for 30 years, and is also retired. We have three children, Michael, an attorney; Michelle, an RN; and Mitchell, a high school biology teacher. Each of them has a little boy and a little girl, giving us six grandkids. We enjoy travel, boating, and camping in our travel trailer. Regarding coin collecting, I started in the 1950's, and was "away" from it for a long time. I have recently returned, and enjoy it very much. I collect U.S., Canadian, English, and Australian. Completed sets include Jefferson nickels, Roosevelt dimes, JFK Halfs, Franklin Halfs, ASE's, English Britannias, and Australian Lunar Coins. I belonged to the old CW Coin Forum, and am also a member of the Coin Talk forum. My membership with Coin Community has been especially valuable, and I really enjoy this forum, and its members.

For those of us who don't know me yet, I've been a collector on and off most of my life. My first and best love is Morgan dollars, but I keep getting dragged over to the Dark Side. Most of my recent purchases have been Euros (darn you Terry! ) I work as a bank teller, and yes, it's sort of like an alcoholic working at a bar! Rachel [:p]

I collect Australian coins, PNCs a few bank notes and my families medals.
I was active on another US forum and the Australian Coins Tokens and Banknotes forum.
I became aquainted with Susan & Bobby they helped me put together some older American coins for a display I use with Youth (scout ) groups.
This forum and somtheing you will learn more about in the future COINAF was started. I am hooked, this forum is my mistress, It is where I spend my extra time and my stolen moments.
I am pleasewd to be associated with so many of you and grateful to all my Australian mates for making the Australian section so successful. Now if we can only get SS back on line in both forums.

Hi Everyone I have been a collector for most of my life, although I did little with the coins I collected except put them in a box, and look at them once in awhile,, This all changed about 4 years ago and I began to study the coins that I had accumulated over the years, and the passion grew. I have settled into a few particular series which I am serious about collecting, Mercury dimes, (working on short sets of FSB's) and Lincoln cents both MS and proofs. Since joining up with these fine people I have also put together a few Morgans, and have become very interested in Errors and Varieties, as well as grading,, and even a few of the grey side coins with the start of my US mint Aussie coins. Other than that, Iam a retired floorcovering contractor,I now am the Head Night Millwright at a Lumber Mill. I have A wife who I adore with all my heart , and 4 K-9 Pals who keep life interesting !! all rescues from various places and times !! Well except the wife She Rescued me !! Rick

I collected coins as a young adolescent, and I enjoyed seeing the coins my father had put away. I left coin collecting for a long time, but when my son in was born in 2002 I wanted to set aside a couple of coins for him. Last winter I bought some for my godson (who lives in NZ) -one from each mint, from 100 years prior to his birth. That, plus wanting somecoins for for my nieces and nephews, to have from their mother's birth year reignited my latent interest in coins. Susan, ND, and the other wonderful folks here helped me learn what I needed to make it interesting and safe. I'm mostly concentrating on classic commems, but there are so many ineresting coins! Walkers (circ) and Frankies (MS) and Washington quarters (circ) are my other semi active areas. I enjoy darkside coins and occasionally pick up one or two, esp Canadian. I'm trying to learn about Charlotte mint coins and keep my eyes open-want to get my sister a CLT half eagle one day. Don

WOW! I honestly wasn't expecting this great of a turn-out of everyone. It's good to get to know all of you on this level. On a personal note, Kerri and I would like to thank Richard (rggoodie) for his kind and EXCELLENT choice of Australian coins that he sent to us. This TRULY makes us Dark Siders now!!! To let everyone know, Richard was the first to GENEROUSLY introduce us into Australian coins!!!! He has sent us: (If I inaccurately describe these coins, please, someone correct me.) 1921 Australian Penny with King George V's profile on the obverse 1945 Australian Penny with King George VI's profile on the obverse 1984 Queen Elizabeth II One Dollar coin and a BEAUTIFUL 2006 UNCIRCULATED 'C' Mintmark 50 Years of Australian Television Commemorative Dollar with Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse!!! Thanks so much for these coins!!! Without your help, we may never had a chance to view or own these beautiful coins!!!! This now expands our Dark Side Collection to about 11 or 12 coins, which is not much, but hey...you gotta start somewhere!!! If anyone is needing help obtaining US coinage or currency, please, feel free to let us know! I might mot be making posts for a few days because I will be busy researching these new coins and also getting listings together for ebay (NO, THESE COINS ARE NOT GOING TO BE PART OF THEM!!!! We only sell coins that we either have extras of or if we are hired for estate sells...by the way, just to clear this up...the toned coins that we have for auction are NOT ours...nor did we tone them....had to make that clear because, honestly, AT is not for us!!! We like NATURALLY AGED AND TONED COINS!)
