Hello, I received this dime with some change. It is quite thinner than a regular dime, the octagonal shape has me really confused (like a Canadian dollar?), especially since it's only really prominent on the obverse. In the center, it seems normal-dime-thickness, it's raised on both sides at that point. There is no prominent rim, & there is varying thickness along the edge. It's incredibly smooth.

Did someone just sand & polish this guy down? I'm aware that this dime isn't worth not much more than down payment at a vending machine, because the date is not visible (if it were a manufacturing error). However, I'd love to hear any thoughts!

Thanks!

Yes, although this coin could have been caught in some spinning machinery. Either way, it didn't leave the mint looking like this.

The first clue? The outside edge of the coin is not round. It was altered after the strike, outside of the mint. very spendable.
