Not sure why this did not occur in the other denominations, but for the 1c strikes, 1979 was a crazy year.

Got this one back from PCGS, with a decent grade:

wow. that's incredible! nice one.

you have to wonder what was going on in 79 and 80 at the mint...was someone asleep at the switch? the equipment wasn't calibrated properly? someone was deliberately letting these escape the mint?

we will probably never know but glad these are out there for us to find!

Yes that coin is at PCGS or maybe back from them hoping to reunite at Coin Expo, this is a nice example of a double strike coin.

SPP can you please explain what has happened to this coin for those that just read through these post and don't really understand what it is they are seeing.
