coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 09/27/2019 7:06 pm When the date and the mintmark have doubling in the same direction it is for sure Machine Doubling. The hubbing of the die and the addition of the mint mark are done in two separate processes. So the result is always Machine Doubling. There can be a doubled die and a RPM on a coin, but the direction would be in different directions. Also this is called push Machine Doubling as the metal was moved larger than the original strike. (Still no premium for this to a serious variety collector) Machine Doubling is not from a doubled die, by caused after the strike and is common to find. Report this Post to the Staff
tropicalbats Pillar of the Community United States 6108 Posts	Posted 09/28/2019 02:29 am It would be a keeper as there are people who collect Machine Doubling when it is that strong (plus yours has great eye appeal). Minimum it's a couple dollar coin to some collectors and that makes it a keeper. And while Coop is totally correct that there is no premium for this to a variety collector (like myself), it will have a premium to some different folks who collect other things.
