Thought I'd pass along the updated information. The low mintage should prove very interesting on the initial release date. Limits?

This House Bill - H.R. 3757 ''1921 Silver Dollar Commemorative Coin Act'' will require the Secretary of the Treasury to mint coins in commemoration of the centennial of the minting of the Morgan dollar and the Peace dollar and shall mint and issue not more than a total of 500,000 one dollar coins of which shall weigh 26.73 grams; have a diameter of 1.500 inches; and contain not less than 90 percent silver. Coins minted under this Act shall be issued in uncirculated and proof finishes.

Also - this is far from being a done deal. There hasn't even been a vote on this bill yet.

Correct, the bill has yet to pass. As for the mintage, it should be 250,000 of each. Still not a low number when compared with other previous coinage but I would suspect that given the popularity of both series these should go very quick. Those mid-night flea market guys already have plans to buy the bulk of them.

Thanks fellas!

Does anyone know if an H.R. needs to pass the senate or be signed by the president, or it only needs to pass the house? I know bills and joint resolutions do need the additional step and I know simple resolutions don't, but not sure how a H.R. works or if that counts as a simple resolution.

I feel like an H.R. is a House Bill and not a H. Res. which I thought was the abbreviation of the simple resolution. I'm really rusty on the protocols.

The bill needs to be passed by the House and Senate before going to the president for his signature.

H.R. stands for House Resolution, which is the title of proposed laws introduced in the House of Representatives. These need to be passed by both houses and signed by the president in order to take effect (barring a veto override).

H.R. stands for "House of Representatives" not "House Resolution."

H.R. 3757 is short for "House of Representatives bill number 3757."

I actually hope it passes. This is one thing I can actually get behind the government to support.

A Morgan / Peace dollar pair, in specimen NON proof with full mint luster, both with a 2021 date, grading MS70 DMPL?
hmmmmmmm....... Sounds interesting.

I think such a pair would be more visually appealing than proofs.
And take much more effort to produce.

Issue them in a slab like acrylic casing.
If he Mint takes the effort to strike them to MS-70 DMPL perfection,
there will be no need to have them taken out of their 'slab' to be graded.

With the sort of minting effort needed to consistently produce to MS-70 DMPL standard,
perhaps the issue should be 100,000 instead.
