I like the idea of bypassing commemorative legislation for coins "commemorating" other coins as well, not unlike the leeway the Mint has for generic bullion designs. Bypassing commemorative laws for actual specific people or events (like, say, the Mayflower) still feels wrong though.

I agree, which is why I am not offended by this proposed legislation.

When I look at the modern commemeratives minted since 1983 I don't really like any of them to me most are funky looking with to much crammed in the fields. How does the mint run with such goofy artistic interpretations? Yuk these has been some sunshine mint looking commemeratives flowing out neverending. Look at the ASE they even managed putting a cookie cutter design eagle on reverse (its got to go).
Lets be realistic here the Peace dollar Morgan dollar 2021 thing has slim chance to be minted. No political will to do so and the mint is too busy minting ugly commemeratives for 15 different celebratory celebrations of magnificent comic book coins. Can't wait for the colored Spiderman coins with darthvader above in God we trust.
Congress not interested
Senate not interest
None of the major players on both sides of House seem remotely inclined
Take this to the bank "the Peace/Morgan 2021 is dead" I guarantee. Sure I would buy them lots of them, yes I support them. But...country is frying bigger fish right now.
