Don't view as crushing your hopes. View it as a continued part of the educational process. It cost you nothing, unless you paid extra for the coin. I've done that and have always kept them. Why? A reminder of an education I've received on that purchase. I study it, and let others know so they won't fall for it in the future. Getting burnt may cost, but saving others from the same trap..... PRICELESS

It would be nice if there was just a small premium above face on the machine doubled coins. While they are common, it is far less than 1% (maybe even 01% for some dates) and there seems to be a lot of interest in these coins.

I am curious as to how you figured 1%. I see some form of mechanical damage on at least 50% of all the cents I look at. Some are more severely effected but the number has to be a lot higher than 1%. That's why there is not and shouldn't be any premium. Just look at all the coins with Machine Doubling Damage that get posted on this section of these forums. Thanks, Bill

I am interested in MDD coins, too. I have made up sets of LMC 1959 to date, gave two of the sets away, still have a complete one. My biggest cent MDD collection is 1909 to date. I have lots of empty holes, but lack only 1938S from 1934 to date. Will never complete that set, don't reckon. I have nice bunch of everyone's favorite--1969S. Working on a roll of those. Started a MDD set of 1965 to date of quarters, but lost interest and spent those. I know they are worthless, but I just can't resist putting aside a nice machine doubled coin of a dramatic nature.

I like to keep my MDD if they do have a good amount of doubling on them too. God knows I wont be able to afford to buy a DD (1955/55)or the (1970-s) What am I going to fill that dang hole in my book. Hummm

chuckster 125 I love that 68-s. I have looked through at least 100s of 1968-d,s that I have found. And no MD or 68-d DD yet. So yours is rare to me. Just until I find one my self. Then I'm sorry it will just be another penny/cent :-) Just kiddin ha ha ( I have a idea lets just see how popular the MDD is if you own one like chucks post it. Or one that's close Here is mine Image Insert:
