2000 D Virginia Quarter Discoloration

kikuchik New Member United States 1 Posts	Posted 10/04/2019 02:15 am I just recently started taking an interest in coins and found this one that is obviously different from the others. Aside from the different color, it looks porous and the letters aren't very raised. I apologize for my incorrect terminology. Any ideas of what I have here? Report this Post to the Staff

Second, this quarter looks like it spent time in the ground--that would help to explain the dark color and then slightly porous surface. I don't think that you have a mint error.
