I just recently started taking an interest in coins and found this one that is obviously different from the others. Aside from the different color, it looks porous and the letters aren't very raised. I apologize for my incorrect terminology. Any ideas of what I have here?

@kc, first welcome to CCF. Second, this quarter looks like it spent time in the ground--that would help to explain the dark color and then slightly porous surface. I don't think that you have a mint error.

to CCF. Not an error, sorry. Looks like environmental damage maybe from a ground find from a metal detector.

The weight maybe under also from the metal leeching into the ground.
