I picked this up from a friend for giving him a ride to taco bell. It was still In its case but labeled 1915 by the coin dealer who sold it years ago. I would appreciate some opinions on what the likely grade would be.

I just don't see any wear on this coin . Maybe the obverse strike was not as strong as the reverse which by the way is superbly struct . I'm in at MS-65 with 66 so close .

Would you be willing to post high resolution photos:
from the "ES" in STATES through the "MER" of AMERICA
of EPU
of the top of the buffalo's neck that is just below "UN" of UNITED

There's a chance that your coin may be 1913 DDR-002, which is also FS-1802.

In terms of grade, ignore the weakness in LIBERTY. Weak lettering in LIBERTY was a design flaw in all 1913-14-15 Buffs, and was corrected in a re-design in 1916. Your coin has a typical strike for a Philadelphia Type 1. I see what appears to be slight disruption of the luster on the Indian's cheek and upper jaw and on the buffalo's front shoulder. It is more evident when the photo is adjusted to reduce light and enhance color. This could be from light circulation or from long-term storage in a bookshelf album with mylar slides (such as a Dansco or Library of Coins). There are several small bag marks across the obverse and parts of the reverse. With the photos provided, I can only offer an either/or grade here, with either an AU-58 or MS-64 grade. It's a really nice coin. If you do have the FS-1802/DDR-002, it's a great coin.

EDIT: I think this coin would actually grade higher than my comments, but the photos provided just aren't clear enough when enlarged for me to be confident above what I have posted.

Appreciate the knowledge. I'll have to do some research on how not to compromise my photos by getting them under the 300 limit. I'll repost in the areas you talked about later. Thanks!

Natural light or use a coffee filter on your light source will help the picture.

Here's my try at a few better pics of the areas you mentioned. When I magnify I definitely see something under a few of the letters, especially the C in America. At least I think I do.

It's common in the early Buffalo years to have weak LIBERTY's . It's not an error or wear .
