Met Chris 8 or 9 years ago.

First impressions, seems to be, quite truthful. Very engaged. Very smart. Driven. Knowledgeable on many subjects. Does not know how to give up.

Chris owned and operated his own computer repair business. Spent most of his adult life confined to a wheelchair due diabetes. Finally, he fought a brave fight with cancer.

His New York accent would filter through in conversation occasionally. Very animated on subjects that he cared about....coins being one of them.

Local auction company sold computer shop contents and his collection of coins to the highest bidder today. Hopefully, for his family, they did well for him and his family.

As I stood there, watching the auctioneers, doing the best job they know how, sell the coin collection. Other than the very basics, they really did not know much.

So, my fellow coin club member, Chris, is trying to teach his fellow numismatists, something else......have a solid exit plan in place, prior to WHEN a plan is needed.

(edit to correct some grammar)

Truly sad, but I see this in a few hobbies. Sometimes it's better to sell when you can. You can't take it with you. Keep the few that are important. Pass the rest on to someone that can enjoy it before it's auctioned away. Otherwise have a plan to sell it after you are gone. Some people don't worry about it, others do. I'll sell mostly everything when I can't enjoy it, but I'll keep a few till the end.

Life is full of hellos and goodbyes.
This post has both, but concentrates on the 'hello'.
That is good.

We should all dwell on the 'hello', it gets rid of some of the pain.

Thanks to all of you.

Simply humbling to watch Chris navigate life. "Never give up" should be on his tombstone.

He always had a smile. Always had a story to share. Always asked about you.

To my New York Numismatist, may your journey be filled with gold, silver, & platinum rounds!!
