Members, while I realize most of you are very familiar with all the Glossary and non-glossary abbreviations, many of us are probably not.

Would it rude of me to ask you professionals to spell out some of the "not-so-common" abbreviations - especially if they not listed in our glossary?

I am rather old and have pitiful short-term memory, so it would help me quite a bit.

Thank you

Most of the terms should be in the glossary, but just ask and we are more than happy to help you out.

What terms are you referring to?

Ask any time you are uncertain. Each time you ask there are probably many other readers who would like the help too.

I'm sure that's right. When I was a kid, it stood for "Lucky Strike Means Fine Tobacco".

I too am on the older side and get irritated with all those abbreviations. It's not to bad when discussing something with a member that's been here a long time, but when answering something for a newer individual, why make them try to figure out what your saying? I too think it could help a lot if more people would spend a few seconds to type in a full explanation.

Just carl has hit the nail on the head. Thanks for the support, carl.

CoinCollector2012: One term I recall is when a member typed "just PM me."
It is not in the glossary, so I asked him what that meant. Rather than just a simple "It means ____", he told me where to go (in the forum) to find the meaning. I went to where he said, and it was not there either. I did not ask again. Do you wonder why I didn't (sorry, I meant "did not"?)

There was another abbreviation a few days ago when a member posted multiple photos of coins he wished to sell. Another member asked him about selling one of the coins, referring to it by a two-letter abbreviation. I do not recall the abbreviation and it was not listed in the glossary. Also, I do not know how to pull up older topics on the forum to find what it was (the forum is not very user friendly, in MHO [my humble opinion.]) And, as I said before, my short-term memory is pitiful.

John1,

Yes, I know about the glossary. I have even downloaded it to my personal computer. But, even if the abbreviations are in the glossary, why make all us dummies have to stop to look them up each time?

My suggestion to all: Do not type your Topics and Topic Replies directly into the forum. Rather, add all your commonly used abbreviations into Auto-Correct on your computer, type your topics/replies into Microsoft Word, (letting autocorrect spell them out for you) then simply cut and paste your topic into the forum. Heck, with autocorrect, you can add in the entire "Gettysburg Address" and paste it anywhere by just typing "GA", if you set it up that way.

Just a suggestion.
