I recently ( impulse)bought a nearly complete set of Jefferson's. Just got them and glanced at a few after work today. This one stuck out. I've seen you guys post similar coins but this is the first proof strike error coin I have found! What do you guys and gals think?

Yep! It could be struck through a thread or hair. Nice coin.

I think you are right about this being struck-through. Seems more likely a thread than a hair, but either way its pretty sweet.

Nice one! Always neat to see a proof error.

Thanks guys. I'm going to look at the rest of them today. I'm not a Jefferson rpm/dd expert so it will probably take longer than if it were Lincolns!

But I have picked 2 FS varieties from this seller so I'm pretty sure he hasn't looked at them very closely!

To prove what it is, try to find the mint employee missing a hair.

Your comment made me laugh. I'm bald and have been shaving my head for 30+ years. I'm looking back on all of the hairs I've left behind and the places they could have ended up. I hope no one finds one and sues me.

Now, back to the coin...

@yokozuna,

With modern DNA analysis, they could at least prove that it was YOUR hair.
