Help-With-A-72-Roosevelt-Dime-Error
Hello all
I'm new to the forum and relatively new to coin collecting. When going through some of my circulated coins the other day I ran across this Dime. Which looks like it has the Lincoln memorial underneath Roosevelt's head. Any ideas on what type of error this is. Is this a double denomination with Dime minted on a penny? Any help is greatly appreciated

to the CCF!

It looks like your coin has glue on the surface. It may have been attached to a Lincoln Memorial cent at one time. The glue has an image from the reverse of the other coin. It may flake off or you may have to remove it with a solvent.

Well I'm definitely not an expert but under magnification the material is missing where the memorial is. Seems like if it was glue it would be built up. Well either way I appreciate the quick response. Back to digging

@vonburch, a quick way to know for sure would be to soak this coin in acetone. That should remove the glue. Also, welcome to CCF!

@Vonburch Keep searching and please keep posting. People find rare coins all the time. Your coin could have been one of those and maybe the next one that catches your eye will be a real error. I've been searching coins and collecting errors for 49 years. I've been fooled by glue on several occasions.

We love to look at coins and we all share in the thrill when someone finds something rare or unusual.

Acetone will remove it, or just spend it. But in a week someone else will be posting the same coin.
