Here's a quick clash overlay. Click the photo for a larger image
ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!

I can't figure out how a clash would show up on the devices like that.

It's called a vise job. There is no way a clash event would transfer in the places it has on this coin. The most common clash artifact in this series is the neck line that shows off the eagles shoulder and this coin has none.

That line is shown off the eagle shoulder to the left

Heck I dunno man. I just picked it up today and thought it was something cool. Are you saying somebody did this to it? I dont see any clamp Mark's or dings anywhere. Looks pretty clean all things considered. I've not been collecting very long but it looked just like my jfk half die clash. Anyone else got any ideas on it?

Out of curiosity have you weighed it? My second guess after vise job would be a counterfeit issue.

Hey Dave. Haven't weighed it yet but I'm gonna stack it up against my other Peace dollars. I think it may be a fake, albeit a well made one whoever's did it. I'd have never posted it had I known. The edges are funny and the numbers on the date are odd and it feels slightly lighter in my hand. The weight will tell all I need to know. I'll post the verdict later. Stay tuned.

This clashed Peace dollar, while it has a sandy, grainy finish to it, The clashes are spot-on for the coin's appearance, I believe You picked a winner, Looks circulated, but, IMO, Authentic.........
