Hey guys,
I'm not a coin collector but I was counting out my tips after a bartending shift and when I got to the change one of the quarters felt thicker than usual. I looked at it and the edge is completely smooth. Washington's hairline and neck both look unfinished as well.

If it wasn't thicker than the other quarters I would have assumed that someone with too much time on their hands had filled it down or something. But it really looks like maybe it didn't get pressed hard enough. Is that something that can happen? If so, can I now retire from bartending and live off of my .25 tip?

I'm really just trying to figure out if this is an error coin, and if so, is it is worth more than .25? Any help would be appreciated.

I hope I didn't upload too many photos. I just wanted to make sure you guys can se what I'm talking about. I found a regular 1994 quarter to give reference.

Cheers,
Rich

to CCF. Looks like a " Dryer Coin" to me. The coin gets stuck in a commercial clothes dryer. Please use the search box, upper left of page for lots of info. Now,where is my rum and coke?

@rich138, first welcome to CCF. Second, I wanted to compliment you on your picture-taking. These are well above average for a first-time poster. With that said, I agree with @john1 that you new quarter spent time in a dryer and this flattened out the ridges as well as broadening the rim. This is damage not a mint error and the coin is worth face value.
