Hello out there! I have had a time trying to find out any kind of information concerning a coin I come across. It is at best in good condition and the date is still visible but what has been a challenge for me concerning this coin is finding another with the same date! From what I have learned the flying eagle small cents was produced during the years of 1856-1858. This coin has a date on it that says 1859. I have had several people to look at it also just to be sure that I am seeing it correctly. They all agree that it says 1859. So can anyone help me figure out what the deal is with my Flying Eagle cent? Why does it have a date that suggest that it shouldn't exist?

Please post a picture of the front and the back of the coin, and people will help as they can.

Marcie4351, welcome to the CCF.

OP...

Coming to this forum with a coin question like this is kinda like going to the doctor.

You can tell the doctor all day long about how your big toe hurts but the doctor will still insist you take off the shoe so she can see for herself what may be wrong.

Same here......we need pictures to try to tell you what you have.

A pattern coin (or novelty) if it's 1859. I'm in for the pics.

It looks like he isn't coming back. I wonder why he thinks that because the coin says it's 1859 it shouldn't exist?
